Children’s Ministries

Comments on the importance and focus of Children’s ministries

Sunday School

Children’s Sunday School meets during the 10:00 service.  Children will go to worship and stay with their families until Children’s Time, when they will be dismissed to attend Sunday School.  The Sunday School curriculum uses BIBLEZONE LIVE! A fun, new activity-based Sunday School program where the Bible comes to life! Children, 3 years old through 6^th grade, are divided into three grade-appropriate groups. 

Nursery

Grace UMC has a staffed Nursery for every church service.  The Nursery has an attached, accessible  bathroom, a changing table, and a large assortment of toys.  The Nursery is intended for infants through 2 years of age.

Children's Church

Children's Church is a church service for children ages 4 to 8.  The children attend the regular worship service and leave for Children’s Church following Children’s Time.  The goals of Children’s Church are to teach the Children about worship and to  engage the children in a worship service appropriate to their age.  Children's Church is provided during second service on Sundays when there is no Sunday School.

Vacation Bible School

Bible study

Grace UMC presents every 3^rd grade child with a Bible, generally the second week of October.  Every other year, the 3^rd and 4^th graders have a class on using the Bible.

Christmas Program

The children perform a Christmas program every year.  This past year, the children presented "Get In Line For Christmas" by Cathy Skogen-Soldner, a novel story telling of the birth of our Lord in an entertaining but meaningful way.  The God’s Kids and Youth Choir also contributed.

God’s Kids

God’s Kids is a choir for Kindergarteners  – 3rd graders.  God’s Kids rehearses on Wednesdays.  Paige Macklin directs the God's Kids Choir.

Summer Camps

The Minnesota United Methodist Church has an incredibly varied summer camps program.  There are camps for everyone.  Grace UMC encourages children, youth, adults, families, and groups to attend a United Methodist summer camp.  Click on the link to see the descriptions of the Mn UMC summer camps,  www.campminnesota.org.

Grace UMC offers a Vacation Bible School typically in June for 4-10 year olds.  Older children & youth help with VBS.  VBS meets in the evenings.
