Adult Sunday School:  How do you react to the unexpected?  Are you “all in” and ready for a challenge?  Or are you reluctant to act at all, not believing in your own talents and abilities.  Moses was such a man, and look at what he accomplished.  The Adult Sunday school class will begin to look more closely at his multi-faceted life on February 18th.  We meet in Room 6, just to the left of the sanctuary at 9:00 a.m.  Our book is entitled Moses: In the Footsteps of the Reluctant Prophet and is widely available.  Please be sure to order the adult version since there are several.  If you have questions, or would like more information, please contact Nancy Milne.  ATTENTION:  No Adult Sunday school on Sunday, February 4th.

“Surprise the World” Short Term DNA (Discipleship, Nurture, Accountability) Groups
Thursdays, 8:00-9:00 p.m., (February 15th thru April 5th) for young adults.
This group will meet at Pastor Jen and Blair Anderson’s house. Please note, 55lb. yellow lab on premise.

Adult choir members needed:  The adult choir is in need of more singers. You may have noticed our numbers are down some Sundays and winter vacations will take more away.  An enjoyment of singing is the only requirement.  We rehearse on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.  COME JOIN US!     Paige Macklin.

Girl Scout Cookie Time1
Please help support our Girl Scouts by purchasing cookies from Kiera Palacio and Meg Molitor. Cookies are available February 3rd through March 18th. There will be a table in the narthex. If you would like to support the girls, but do not want all those delicious cookies in your home, you can donate them to our church for coffee hour, or you can donate boxes to our troops overseas. Just let the girls know what you would like done with the cookies you purchase and they will take care of the rest. Kiera is in Brownie Troop 56766, which meets in Eagan and Meg is in Troop 17661. Thank you for your support.

Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Their Eyes Were Watching God is a 1937 novel and the best known work by African-American writer Zora Neale Hurston. The novel narrates main character Janie Crawford's "ripening from a vibrant, but voiceless, teenage girl into a woman with her finger on the trigger of her own destiny."  As a young woman, who is fair-skinned with long hair, she expects more out of life, but comes to realize that people must learn about life 'fuh theyselves,' just as people can only go to God for themselves.

Missions

Ruby's Pantry. Food distribution will take place on Monday January 15th, at Glendale UMC in Savage.  Volunteers can just show up at Glendale anytime between 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. to help for a few minutes or for a few hours. If you have any questions, please call Lynn Kilian at 651-315-1647 or go to glendalechurchumc.org/index.php/rubys-pantry.

Ruby’s Pantry is a non-profit organization that gathers food donations from local retailers and brings them to their distribution sites over Minnesota and Wisconsin. For more information on Ruby’s Pantry’s Mission.
How it works:  Every 3rd Monday of each month Glendale’s sanctuary & fellowship hall are turned into a distribution site. Registration begins at 4:30 PM and runs until 6:00 PM.

In Need of Love.  Our nursery has a well-loved toy that needs some love! The train table in the nursery gets played with a TON. It is starting to show major wear. Lots of pieces have come apart and the trains need a little love to get going again. The pieces to fix it are in the cupboard.
What we need is someone who can putter with it and screw the tracks back in, get the engines going and generally make it sturdy. Maybe a January afternoon project to break up winter’s boredom?  If this sounds like something you are able to do and would like to help, contact Molly Berg.

Solar Oven Partners.  Volunteer for a Mission with Solar Oven Partners in Sierra Leone! Work side-by-side with oven recipients during three 2-day seminars assembling ovens and cooking in them, and breaking bread together when the solar-cooked meals are ready! Dates are April 16th-28th. Solar cooking addresses issues of poverty, deforestation and health. Contact Director Marj Evans-de-Carpio at 605-692-3391 or sopdir@swiftel.net for more information.

Minnesota Food Share, Lenten Drive:. We will be doing things just a little different this year. The drive for the month of March this year will be extended to include the Lenten Season. Suggestions will be given each week based on items that are in demand. For the first Sunday in Lent, Feb. 18th, the suggested item will be canned fruit. Instead of placing your donations in the barrel in the Narthex, we will be placing them on the cancel. Watch for more details in future bulletins.

United Methodist Women

RUTH VOLL Circle.  will not be meeting during January and February. The regular schedule will start up again in the month of March.
