Worship:  May 30, 2021 - The Why, The Will and The Way

Worship notes for Sunday May 30

Welcome to worship either online or inperson at 10 am.

We will live stream,/record, at 10 am with the service also being posted later on our Facebook group, website and YouTube channel Grace United Methodist Church of Burnsville

Let’s consider our “Why, Will and Way" based on the Great Commandment!

Please know that we have removed mask and social distance requirements for worship attendance based on CDC guidelines for those who are fully immunized... But COVID  is still with us and we are not just back to normal!  We ask that you be extra cautious with our younger children and others who are not able to be immunized .  Wearing masks is still an encouraged and welcomed option.

Social distance seating is still encouraged by households as appropriate for your family.  Please continue to make generous use of hand sanitizing. We will not be passing a microphone for prayer time, or passing offering plates in  the pews.

We still want to be safer for all of us!

We are not yet providing childcare or children’s ministry.  A variety of activity sheets are available for children’s use, either in the pews or  if your family would like some wiggle room during worship, around the tables in the entryway.  We will be inviting children up front for a short message and we will be wearing masks for our children’s message together.

A coffee, social time will be available after worship.

Remember;  we have a Church Conference next week, June 6  after worship in order to approve our new pastor's compensation budget.

Blessings on your Memorial Day weekend in God’s comfort and promises.  We pray for peace and those who work for peace!

Here is a link to the bulletin in order to assist in online worship.

We are still learning and adapting to our new normal!

Thank you for your support and prayers.

Pastor Rory

As we prepare to enter a new year during a global pandemic, this is an uplifting message of hope and possibility.

Other Announcements :
Have you still got an estimate of giving waiting or a pledge to get mailed?
Please remember to wear a mask when you enter the church building . This a critical time to reduce the COVID spread.
The Tuesday Bible study led by Pastor Rory will be suspended as a COVID safety precaution. Our witness of faith is to care for the community good!
Would you be able to help with minor fix it projects at the church, get water softener salt, maybe shovel some snow now and then? Let the office know if we can call on you for some of these occasional tasks .
We are still looking for people with experience in video recording and editing for our services on YouTube. We know you are out there!
Thanks also to the kind and supportive responses for my retirement in June announcement

Hello Grace church!

This Sunday worship service celebrates All Saints Day.  Who are you remembering?

Be ready to write those names on a piece of paper. You are also invited to participate at home with Holy Communion. Gather some bread and something for your communion cup later in the service.

With the guidance of our bishop in Minnesota, our in person worship services  on Sunday have been suspended until further notice due to rising Covid rate concerns.  As your pastor I believe this is the most responsible thing for us to do to help curb this trajectory. Help us keep others safe!

Please send in your estimate of giving or pledge if you are intending to complete one.  Thanks to all those who have responded!

Don't forget to let us know if you have the skills to help us us with our worship recording and video work.

Grace church is the precinct 12 polling site on Nov 3rd. Due to additional Covid spacing needs the polling will be in our main entry way area. I will close the office that day and be working at home so we can avoid walking through that reserved area.  It’s another way for us to serve our neighborhood. Don't forget to vote and to keep our election process in your prayers.

We are still collecting coats for Emma Norton until Nov 8th.

Remember Our Troops Holiday Cards

In the past we have sent holiday cards to service persons at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and Ramstein AFB in Germany.  This is something we can still do during these days of Covid.  A great simple, family project perhaps.  Our efforts provide comfort and encouragement to the troops and their family members.
You may use your own cards or we have some at the church if you want to stop by and pick some up.  There is no way to know if your card will go to a male or female, so please be generic with your writing.  You can either sign your name or put down Grace UMC (or both if you wish).
Deadline is December 8th.  DO NOT SEAL the envelopes.  Kindly return your cards to the office.  Feel free to contact the office or Judi Bolitho at 612-419-1192 if you have any questions.  Thank you in advance for your participation.

Worship, August 30.  Minnesota UMC Annual Conference

Worship Service: Be the Light, Live Hope
We have guest worship leaders for our worship service this week. Our Grace church on line team is taking the week off.
A clergy covenant group within the Minnesota Conference has created a worship service around our 2020 Annual Conference theme ("Be the Light, Live Hope") that's available for all congregations to use Aug. 30 or after. Please note: As we seek to embrace our richness of diversity, this worship service intentionally reflects diverse voices and music styles. The sermon is a prophetic and challenging word to us as we continue our work toward racial justice. We invite you to open yourselves up to these voices as we consider anew what it means to be salt and light for the world. Thank you to Revs. Shawna Horn, Jay Jeong, LaQuaan Malachi, Nate Melcher, Kate Murphey Payton, Whitney Sheridan, and Mariah Furness Tollgaard for developing this resource.

Twin Cities Response to the Death of George Floyd
How you can help?
Many congregations and individuals are looking for ways to put their faith into action and participate in immediate relief efforts in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Here’s a compilation of opportunities, both hands-on and financial, involving Minnesota United Methodist churches. They include joining a new conference Rapid Response Facebook group, donating food and essential supplies, praying, tutoring students, becoming a prayer partner, and contributing financial resources to a variety of efforts that are meeting vital needs.

Grace UMC shares faith stories, connects with community

The Minnesota United Methodist Conference published an article about the Grace UMC Lenten Series, “It seemed like an ordinary day until I had coffee with Jesus at the Café DuMonde.”  Each Sunday during Lent a member of the congregation shared during worship  a time when they had encountered Christ.
